The cake was created by Rosie Dummer, who has appeared on Channel 4’s Extreme Cake Makers.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been given a cake makeover for the Cake and Bake Show 2019.
The masterpiece – a chocolate cake, with chocolate frosting, covered in chocolate ganache – was unveiled as the show opened at the ExCel convention centre in London.
The life-sized creation was made by star of Channel 4’s Extreme Cake Makers, Rosie Dummer, and it recreates the moment Johnson got stuck on a zip wire at Victoria Park during the London 2012 Olympic games.
The Prime Minister was persuaded to go on the zip wire to celebrate Team GB’s first gold medal at the games — however, he ground steadily to a halt on the wire, about 20ft in the air, and was left dangling for around five minutes.
Dummer says she stopped keeping track of how much chocolate she had used to create the Prime Minister once she exceeded 10kg.
“For me, 2012 was the best year Britain ever had. We had the Olympics and the Jubilee — everyone was just on fire and it was a really happy time,” she says.
“I hope he finds it funny. I think he would as he has a good sense of humour. I don’t know if he knows about it but I would be more than happy to take a slice round to him.”
She adds that she doesn’t really follow politics: “I watch Question Time but I am a very fluid voter.”
Her experience making the cake is being documented for Channel 5’s Wonderful World Of Chocolate.
