The Countdown is on for Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland

This year Cardiff’s famous and much loved Winter Wonderland is back, bigger and better than ever.

Split across two prestigious locations in the heart of the city centre, visitors will now be able to experience Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland at both City Hall Lawn and Cardiff Castle, from 16th November to 2nd January.

Winter Wonderland at Cardiff Castle 

The undercover Ice Rink and Ice Walk will be located in the Castle’s Public Square, boasting the magnificent backdrop of the Norman Keep. 

Here visitors can check into the skate exchange for their session, or spectators can stand on the sidelines and watch their friends and family enjoy the ice. There will also be a selection of festive food and drink stalls around the rink for visitors to enjoy, like a Yorkshire pudding wraps, toasted marshmallows on an open fire, or dreamy hot chocolate.

Winter Wonderland at City Hall Lawn 

City Hall Lawn is free to enter and, with its festive music and decorations, it will be hard not to get into the spirit of the season! 

Funfair: Visitors can buy tokens to hop on the funfair rides, or try their hand at traditional games. The famous big wheel will also return and offer some of the best views of Cardiff and the Christmas lights.

The Sur La Piste Bar: The alpine theme bar is back, and with its cosy deco and selection of tasty beverages, it’s one of the best places to catch up and celebrate Christmas in the city.  

Ice Bar: NEW for 2021 the site will host an Ice Bar! Visitors will be able to chill (quite literally) in -10-degree temperatures in Cardiff’s newest and coolest hotspot. The bar will operate ticketed sessions throughout the day. Tickets on sale at

Outdoor Entertainment: Each week, there will be a full schedule of free entertainment, live from the Bandstand showcasing the best in local music artists and talent. Suitable for all ages.

Festive Food & Drink Stalls: With plenty of outdoor seating, and covered space, it’s a great place to relax with a quick bite from one of the food stalls, and enjoy a range of sweet and savoury treats.
