It’s free, it’s fun and it’s very cheesy! Welcome to the refreshed, rejuvenated Big Cheese 2019 at Caerphilly Castle, a massive food and drink festival that’s all about the cheese – though other Welsh food and drink delights make an appearance too. This year is set to be better and bigger than ever before. Expect street food, three huge food halls, live cookery demos, a bar area, and cheese market. At the centre stands the wonderful castle itself, which remains the star of the festival.
The castle will be transformed into a medieval encampment with re-enactment displays and battles –it also has free entry all weekend.
With an entertainment program that’ll stretch from morning until evening, The Big Cheese’ new live music lounge bar area will feature local artists in various music domes, so expect a variety of genres to suit all tastes and attractions to suit all ages.
A huge traditional funfair is open throughout the festival along with many craft stalls lining the Castle’s moat. Children’s activities are plentiful with animal encounters, crafts, educational experiences and much more.
Portraying the history, heritage and culture of Caerphilly. Families from all over the country flock to Caerphilly to experience this fun-filled programme of activities and entertainment. This family-friendly festival is a ‘must-see’ attraction this summer.
The opening evening on Friday 26th July from 3pm is set to be spectacular, with a show-stopping fireworks finale scheduled for 10pm.
From July 26-28, the event is free to enter.
