Cardiff will once again be transformed into a Winter Wonderland with a brand new Alpine Ice Trail for 2019. From 8th Nov til 5th Jan, City Hall Lawns is the place to be as Cardiff pulls out all the stops for Christmas.
The Cardiff Alpine Trail is an open-air ice skating experience, 250m long, making it one of the longest Ice Trails in Europe and the only one in the UK this winter.
Visitors to Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland will still find the usual Christmas ice rink, allowing up to 300 people on the ice at a time, but the bonus of an Alpine Trail will allow visitors to explore without having to take their skates off.
The Alpine Ice Trail isn’t the only new feature you can expect this year. At Gorsedd Gardens there will be a special Winter Wonderland Christmas tree on display, decorated by local primary school children from Coed Glas. The Big Wheel will also be a new addition to the Christmas 2019 event, with accessible carriages for wheelchair users, as well as returning favourites such as the double-storey ‘Sur La Piste’ bar and live entertainment area.
