Tis the season to be merry and there’s no better way to get into the festive spirit than with a few Christmas cocktails at one of Cardiff’s glamorous nightlife hotspots.
Fairly new on the Cardiff cocktail scene, Dirty Martini are quickly becoming the place to be seen with an amazing choice of martinis and signature cocktails set in glamorous Gatsby style interiors.
They’ve got five Christmas cocktails to choose from and the star of the show is The Bellringer, a fruity fusion of Amaretto Disaronno mixed with cranberry juice, blood orange syrup topped off with a cheeky dash of Prosecco. If you’re feeling daring try The Mince Chai, Bold London Spirit is shaken with Bitter Truth Pimento Dram, gingerbread syrup, chai tea, pressed apple juice, egg white and cheery bitters.
Christmas cocktails are just £6 when pre-booked as part of a party package, or £9 on the night.
The Admiral St David
The Candy Cane
A visit to Cardiff Bay is a must for a festive get together and where better to enjoy a glamorous cocktail than the five-star St David’s Hotel who have a few Chrismas cocktails up their sleeve to welcome guests this winter.
The Candy Cane is the big draw with a luxurious blend of Peppermint Schnapps, cream and crème de cacao, with a dash of grenadine and a cute candy cane garnish which is guaranteed to impress. Equally appealing is the Chocolate Raspberry Martini. A marvellous mix of Absolut Raspberry vodka, Kahlua, crème de cacao and cream, dusted with chocolate and finished with whole raspberries. Both cocktails are priced at £9.95.
Perched on the corner of Mill Lane and St. Mary Street, the popular Peppermint Bar has a scrumptious selection of festive tipples to tempt party-goers with.
A winter twist on a summer classic, the Pumpkin Spiced Colada is a creamy combination of coconut, white chocolate, homemade spiced pumpkin syrup and rum. If gin’s your thing, you’ll love the Merry Spritz-mas, with warm plum flavours, this cocktail of sloe gin and Prosecco is ideal for Aperol Spritz drinkers. Meanwhile, the affectionately named Orchard Pig’s in Blankets sees vanilla poached pear flavours topped off with a splash of sweet Orchard Pig cider. Your only problem will be deciding which one to order! Each cocktail costs £8.

Peach Gin & Tonic
A brand new bar and restaurant on Whitchurch Road, The Brass Beetle has a refined cocktail list of classic flavours with a trendy laid back vibe that’s perfect for a Christmas gathering.
The Peach Gin and Tonic is amazingly refreshing, bursting with fresh fruity notes, with Beefeater Gin, peach liqueur, fresh peaches, rosemary and tonic water. If you prefer something with a kick order the Spicy Margarita with Cazcabel Blanco Tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, fresh jalapenos and chilli flakes. Our cocktail crush at the moment is their Pornstar Martini with Absolut Vanilla, Passoa, vanilla syrup, lime juice, passion fruit and a shot of Prosecco for an added bit of festive fizz. They will also be having some special candy cane cocktails ready for Christmas.
All cocktails are £8.50 and if you’re the designated driver they have a good selection of mocktails for £4.50.

Guaranteed to get any Christmas party started, the Festive Punch Bowl is a vibrant mix of bourbon whiskey, yellow chartreuse, lemon, cranberry, rosehip tea and Christmas bitters, £9 per head.
The Christmas Kiss is a twist on a mulled wine, using mulled spice gin, cherry wine, lemon, raisin syrup, absinthe and egg whites. Or if you like rich winter flavours try the Calling Birds cocktail with Calvados, fig, sweet vermouth, lemon, chestnut syrup and Christmas bitters, both £9.
The Dead Canary also make bespoke festive cocktails so all you have to do is tell them your favouite flavours and they’ll come up with a mix that suits your tastes. Christmas made you way, what better, bottoms up!
Glam Gold Prosecco
Italan patisserie and Prosecco bar, Nine Yards on St. Mary Street (formerly The Bunkhouse) have concocted a new gin and tonic menu inspired by autumnal and winter flavours, and they’re also offering a glamorous gold Prosecco (£6.95) just in time for Christmas. Shimmery and sparkly, this is the perfect drink to get you into the festive spirit!
Relax in the cosy wooden clad bar and keep the bubbles flowing as you ditch your usual bar snacks for a helping of handmade fresh cream pastries, it’s Christmas, it would be rude not to!
