There are many brilliant parks and outdoor spaces on your doorstep that allow you to break away from the routine and find a quiet trail or open space to walk and play in.
Wouldn’t you rather enjoy a woodland walk or bike ride surrounded by Autumn’s vibrant colours and listening to the fallen leaves crunching underfoot rather than walking around hectic shops and busy streets?
There are many amazing trails on Outdoor Cardiff to enjoy all year round. Two of our favourite places on a cold wintery day is Garth Mountain while stopping by the Gwaelod y Garth pub for a cuppa by the fire or Fforest Fawr Sculpture and Heritage Trails to finish at the Forest Parks and Stoves café. Both have amazing homemade food and hot drinks to replenish your energy after a good hike.
Whatever you do, don’t let the weather stop you. Just remember to pack some wet weather clothing and wear some boots or shoes that will keep you comfortable for walking while protecting you from muddy puddles. If you are going for a longer walk, take a snack, water and even a flask of a hot drink to keep you going.
Check out the upcoming events over the next few months leading up to the holiday season and after. And if you are feeling rather sluggish after the festive season go along to the Garth Mountain walk to burn off the excess calories and enjoy the stunning views from the top (if it’s a clear day, of course!).
