Beach Boys, Dreamboys and… Grumpy Old Women?

There’s a real mix of must-see shows for the whole family this summer (and a few just for the adults) at Swansea Grand Theatre.

For those that remember, and those with an ear for the classics, nostalgic music abounds with The Upbeat Beatles (14th June), Beautiful Noise – The Neil Diamond Story (15th June), The UK Pink Floyd Experience (16th June) and The Story Of The Beach Boys A Tribute (21st June).

For families this summer, as greenery blooms in the warm sunshine, Princess Violet, Basil and the mysterious Evergreen star in the earthy and magical story of Tickledom: Basil and the Ice Witch (26th – 30th June), a musical adventure home-grown here in Wales. Created by Cardiff writer John Manders and award-winning composer Matthew Brind this one-of-a-kind family musical guarantees fun and laughter for everyone.

A brand new dinomite adventure thunders into South Wales, with marvellous puppetry on a jaw-dropping scale, Dinosaur World Live (9th – 11th July) dares you to experience the dangers and delights of prehistoric times in this interactive new show for all of the family.

For those who’ve outgrown dinosaurs and princesses (…though who ever really does?) summer also brings some great shows for grownups. Fed up with always having to be in charge, they’ve put their knobbly old feet up in glorious retirement, but with the world in a bigger mess than ever before it’s time for Grumpy Old Women To The Rescue! (23rd June). The Classic Thriller Company present a gripping whodunit from “the king of the detective thriller” Edgar Wallace – The Case of the Frightened Lady (2nd – 7th July). The smash-hit musical comedy Hairspray comes to Swansea for the very first time (24th – 28th July) starring Brenda Edwards (X Factor, Chicago) and perhaps most excitingly of all, the highly anticipated Blood Brothers returns to South Wales! (25th – 29th September).

If all of that isn’t enough The Dreamboys (23rd August) bring the party with the perfect girls’ night out! A jaw-dropping action packed show full of music, muscle and mayhem!
