Following 8 record-breaking years in London’s West End and having played in 11 countries around the world to over 7 million people, the National Theatre’s acclaimed play War Horse is galloping in to Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, this July (4th – 28th) on its 10th Anniversary Tour.
Based on the beloved novel by Sir Michael Morpurgo, who received an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list last year, and dedicated it to the book’s horse-hero, Joey!, this moving drama is a show of phenomenal inventiveness and imagination. At it’s heart are astonishing life-sized horses by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to life on stage.
Michael Morpurgo said: ‘After a few months rest, out at pasture, Joey, the War Horse and his great team from the National Theatre, will be touring the UK again through to 2019 and the centenary of the end of the First World War, taking their show all over the country, to towns and cities, many of them places War Horse has not been seen before. I am so pleased this is happening; that so many more people will have the chance to enjoy this unique theatrical event. Steady boy, steady Joey. Trot on!’
Saddle up and go on an incredible journey from the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of First World War France.
War Horse is at Wales Millennium Centre from 4th – 28th July.
